A widow's open letter to Brahamdagh Bugti
I know, Brahamdagh Bugti, that you would be surprised to see this marriage proposal from me, a woman. This is not how it happens in our culture. It is always the man who proposes. But please understand my dire situation. I am desperate to find a man because you (or your cohorts) killed my husband. You decided to get rid of my man only because he was a Punjabi. And after my husband is gone our family has lost its sole bread-earner. In fact, I need to take care of two small children who are now without a father. Being raised a woman in Balochistan I am not very educated; I don’t have any skills to use to earn an income and make ends meet for my family. Have mercy on us, Brahamdagh: Please marry me.
Last week, when I found out about my husband’s murder I was totally numb. I could not understand why someone would kill such a kind human being. I was further puzzled when I found out my husband’s killers did not take away any of his valuables--they killed him for the sake of killing him. It was that time that I learned the word ‘target killing.’ I was told that you and a few other Baloch leaders want to kill each and every Punjabi and Mohajir living in Balochistan, irrespective of who these people are in their everyday lives, irrespective of what their political views are, and irrespective of their sympathetic stands on the Baloch struggle.
Brahamdagh Bugti, Ever since my husband was killed last week, the three of us--my two children and I-- are living a miserable life. I just checked what I have in the house and have found out that our food supplies would hardly go for another two to three days. I can live on very little food and even go without eating for a while, but how would my two children survive? Have mercy on us, Brahamdagh: Please marry me. Tell me where you are hiding and I will come to you along with my two children. And in case you cannot marry me, can you do me an alternate favor that would rid us of our miseries? Can you kindly send someone to kill me and my two children as well?

Back
I am back. Not that I went anywhere. I am just back at this blog. In fact I had almost forgotten about it.
A lot of things happened since I posted here the last time. It has been a kaleidoscope of everyday happenings in life, love, travel and other things that are shoved to you.
I have been in a pretty stable relationship, with a Hispanic man. And it is because of this relationship that I had to cut down on my desi friendships. For my desi friends it is unacceptable to see a Pakistani woman in a relationship with a non-Pakistani man. Or may be it is just my assumption and our people are more open-minded than I believe them to be.
